The REACH Museum

The REACH

The REACH Museum (REACH) was developed to celebrate and learn about the natural and cultural history of the Hanford Reach of the Columbia River and greater Columbia Basin. The REACH is a hybrid institution-part interpretive center, part museum, part visitor center and all about telling the stories of our community.

With just over 18 acres of land, the REACH has lots of room to grow and play. Check out our galleries, take a short hike up our Energy Northwest Animal Trail, explore our community garden, and learn about the history of irrigation in the Mid-Columbia from old wooden pipes to todays circle pivot. CPCCo Planetarium

CPCCo Planetarium
(located in the D Building on the Columbia Basin College campus in Pasco)

The CPCCo Planetarium, located on the campus of Columbia Basin College in Pasco, provides life-like, high-definition images and sound using the most state-of-the-art projection system in the Pacific Northwest. The 36-foot panoramic viewing dome can simulate a 3-D effect (without the need for strange glasses)!

A typical hour-long show includes a 20-30 minute live presentation and a 25-30 minute full-dome movie. Presentation topics may include solar system or constellation tours, what's visible in the current night sky, and astronomy in the news. Follow us on Facebook

Gesa Carousel of Dreams

GESA Carousel of Dreams
(2901-F Southridge Blvd. in Kennewick)

The Gesa Carousel of Dreams is a world class piece of art that features beautiful turn of the century antique carousel horses that is located in the Southridge Sports and Events Complex in Kennewick for our community to enjoy. The carousel consists of 45 horses, three chariots and other features. It averages between 1800 and 2500 riders per weekend.

In 2003, a local group of businessmen founded the "Three Rivers Carousel" Foundation and purchased the vintage 1910 Charles Carmel Carousel from Marianne Stevens of Roswell, New Mexico. Community volunteers have spent considerable time and effort to restore the carousel. Follow us on Facebook

B Reactor - Manhattan Project National Historical Park

B Reactor
(Located on the Hanford Site off Highway 24 near Vernita Bridge)

The B Reactor, the world’s first full-scale plutonium production reactor, is currently designated as a National Historic Landmark as part of the Manhattan Project National Historical Park. Access to the B Reactor is currently limited to public tours that are offered by the Department of Energy from April through September.

The B Reactor Museum Association has more information about this landmark. Resources related to the history of Hanford including the B Reactor are provided in the Hanford History & B Reactor section of this website that includes an eight minute virtual tour of the B Reactor produced by the Atomic Heritage Foundation.
